UN Security Council Resolutions on Role of Police in UN Peacekeeping
The United Nations Security Council has discussed the role of police on UN peacekeeping on two recent occasions.
The first occurred on 20 November 2014 when the Security Council was chaired by Australia. The Security Council resolved, inter alia, to "make policing an essential part of peacekeeping mandates, including adequate funding". (Resolution 2185)
The second, on 6 November 2017, stressed "the important contribution that United Nations policing can provide in peacekeeping and special political missions". (Resolution 2382)
